On October 20, 2016, a Community Leaders Forum was held at the Ambassador Hotel in Kachreti. 35 community and initiative groups operating in Georgia took part in the event.

The main topic of the forum was the discussion of community funding opportunities for community initiatives / projects. Following the panel discussions, 10 organizations presented themselves to the participants to win the 2016 Best Community Initiative nomination. 4 winning community projects were revealed by secret ballot and special commission at the event. The winners were awarded certificates of appreciation, special prizes and cash prizes.

 

First place - Civic Initiative - "Knowledge Cafe" - Center for Children and Youth Development; Civic Education Foundation;

 

Second place - Karaleti Community Youth Organization - "Library in a highland village near the dividing line" - Foundation, Global Initiative in Psychiatry - Tbilisi.

 

Third place - Vardisubani Women's Initiative Group - "Imagination and Right Hands" and Thorsa Women's Initiative Group "Beam" - "Life Environment".

 

The event was organized with the support of the UN Joint Program for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Georgia, the ongoing project "Empowering Women for Change" and the International Community Development Journal (CDJ).
