Project goal
Meria Community is located on the central road of Tbilisi - Batumi, where cargo transportation is intensive. The village has a railway station and several technical service centers. That is why different types of specific waste were accumulated in the village, which posed a threat to the population and their goods. As part of the project, a small survey was conducted which showed the attitude of the population towards environmental pollution. An information meeting was held to get acquainted with the results of the research, which mainly dealt with the dangers caused by open burning and the negative impact on both human health and nature. To actively involve the youth and schoolchildren in the project, the yard was cleaned and improved, a square was made. With the collected waste, the volunteers made flowers, swings, chairs, tables and various items. This part of the open space is used by the school today for sports lessons and various sporting events.
